Quite a thick stewed plum note at first. The golden syrupy sweetness starts to come through as it cools, leaving you with a lingering citrus note.
Owned by a Belgian-Burundian couple, Cafex has been working to improve the lives of locals, along with farming their ancestral lands sustainably. The mill is situated in a poorly developed land, that allows locals to have a job and gain access to medical care, send their kids to school and generally support themselves. Having implemented a weekly payment program, they’re able to get cash into the hands of producers weekly, enabling a consistent income through harvest season.
