This coffee is produced by FAL Café, whom Ozone have worked with since the 2014 harvest. Byron Holcombe is Director of Agribusiness for the two FAL Café farms in Brazil – Fazenda Monte Verde and Fazenda Santa Izabel. Both of these farms are in the Minas Gerais region near Ouro Fino in the South of Brazil. Both farms have placed in Brazil CoE and last year Santa Izabel won 1st place at the Brazil Speciality Coffee Association awards.
Sustainability is at the heart of FAL operations on the farms, with almost no waste going to landfill. All coffee by-products are used elsewhere on the farm. For example, coffee pulp and chaff are used for organic compost and water from wet mill processing is kept and used to make leaf fertilizer spray. FAL also invest in their people – from funding basic upskilling such as driving license fees, through to formal training in Agronomy and English.
