We are excited to share the latest of our Special Reserve coffees. These are our series of limited edition, truly exceptional and unique coffees.

The ARBAR mill is owned by Carlos and Maria Arrieta Soto. For many years their harvest was sold to a large cooperative and consisted of trusted varietals like Caturra, Catuai and Villa Sarchi. Our Director of Coffee, Steve Leighton, first purchased coffee from the mill in 2013. Today, we commit to buying all the mill’s production each year. This commitment allows Carlos and his family the freedom to take risks and try new things, including experimentation with new varietals.

This coffee is thought to be of the SL28 variety, but due to gaps in the documentation during its journey from Kenya to Costa Rica, we can’t be 100% sure. As a result, this varietal has taken on the name ‘Kenia’.
