  • The Sage Oracle Dual Boiler is Sage's most advanced Oracle yet, and it's built for two kinds of coffee drinker: the one who wants a great flat white at the touch of a button, and the one who wants to control every variable. Auto mode grinds, doses, tamps and textures milk for you. Manual mode hands back control of pre-infusion, bloom and extraction time, with a live pressure gauge on screen.

Two stainless steel boilers and a heated 58mm group head mean you can pull a shot and steam milk at the same time. PID control holds brew temperature steady and lets you adjust it in 1°C steps. Low-pressure pre-infusion gently wets the coffee before full extraction, and an over-pressure valve limits maximum pressure for a more balanced shot.

    Grinding and puck prep

The built-in grinder uses Baratza European precision conical burrs with 45 settings. The Auto Puck system grinds, doses and tamps a 22g dose straight into the portafilter, without mess. Auto Dial-In then monitors each shot and, if it detects under or over extraction, adjusts the grind for the next one. Prefer to make that call yourself? Switch Auto Dial-In off and change grind size from the touchscreen. For coffees that need a wider range, the upper burr can be adjusted to extend it.

    Hands-free milk

Auto MilQ textures milk without you holding the jug, with settings for dairy, oat, almond and soy, 9 texture levels and temperatures from 45°C to 75°C. A milk temperature sensor tracks the jug as it steams, and the wand purges itself automatically when you lower it.

    Day-to-day use

The 5.7" touchscreen, powered by a quad-core processor, switches between Auto and Manual with a swipe. Connect to Wi-Fi for firmware updates, and pair the Sage+ Coffee App to switch the machine on and pre-heat it remotely, or schedule it to start at a set time each day. A dedicated hot water outlet handles long blacks, tea and warming cups, and on-screen prompts tell you when it's time to clean or descale.

    Coffee to pair with it

Sage recommends using beans between 5 and 20 days after their roast date, so freshness matters as much as the machine. For milk drinks, try Hodson, with milk chocolate, brown sugar and red fruit, or the darker Paramount, with toffee and cacao nibs. For espresso on its own, the Seasonal Blend brings nectarine and dried apple. You can also compare several side by side with our Espresso Tasting Pack, or browse all our coffees for espresso. A coffee subscription keeps beans arriving at the right age, so Auto Dial-In isn't chasing stale coffee.

    Good to know

    • Tamping is automatic, so there's no separate tamper in the box and you won't need one.
    • Sage recommends filtered water. Avoid distilled, demineralised or reverse osmosis water, which affects both flavour and how the machine runs.
    • The water tank is at the back. A lever under the drip tray drops a swivel wheel, so you can turn the machine to reach it.

If you brew in Manual mode, a scale makes it easier to track your yield. The Acaia Lunar sits on the drip tray and shows flow rate as your shot runs. Explore the full Sage range at Ozone Coffee.

Best for: Milk drinks at the touch of a button, households with different coffee preferences, and anyone who wants full automation with the option of manual control.

    Instruction manual

The full instruction manual is available directly from Sage: Sage Oracle Dual Boiler Instruction Manual (PDF).

  • How is the Oracle Dual Boiler different from other Sage espresso machines?

It combines dual boilers and a heated group head with automatic grinding, dosing and tamping, Auto Dial-In grind correction, hands-free Auto MilQ milk texturing and Wi-Fi connectivity. Sage describes it as its most advanced Oracle.

Can I control the extraction manually?

Yes. Manual mode lets you set pre-infusion, bloom and extraction time, with a live pressure gauge on screen. Brew temperature adjusts in 1°C steps, and you can change grind size from the touchscreen.

Does it work with oat, almond and soy milk?

Yes. Auto MilQ has settings for dairy, oat, almond and soy, and you can adjust texture across 9 levels and temperature from 45°C to 75°C.

    How does Auto Dial-In work?

The machine monitors each shot. If it detects under or over extraction, it adjusts the grind size automatically to improve the next shot. You can switch it off in settings if you'd rather adjust the grind yourself.

    Is the grinder built in?

Yes. It has Baratza European precision conical burrs with 45 settings and a 340g bean hopper. The upper burr can be adjusted to extend the grind range for coffees that need it.

What does the Sage+ Coffee App do?

Once the machine is connected to Wi-Fi, the app lets you power it on and off remotely so it's pre-heated when you need it, and gives you notifications and tutorials.

What size portafilter does it use?

    A 58mm stainless steel portafilter, holding a 22g dose.

    Is it suitable for beginners?

Yes. Auto mode handles grinding, dosing, tamping and milk texturing, and an on-screen tutorial walks you through your first coffee. Manual mode is there when you want more control.

    What water should I use?

Cold, filtered water. Fit the supplied water filter and replace it every 3 months. Avoid distilled, demineralised or reverse osmosis water, as low mineral content affects flavour and how the machine performs.

How fresh should my coffee beans be?

Sage recommends using beans between 5 and 20 days after their roast date. Stale coffee tends to run too fast and taste bitter and watery. Browse our coffees for espresso.

    What maintenance does it need?

The machine prompts you when a cleaning cycle or descale is due and guides you through each one on screen, including steam wand cleaning. Rinse the portafilter and baskets after each session, and run a clear water backflush before switching off.
