Episode 722

Here at Hasbean we love to celebrate the awesome things that happen when strong relationships are built between roasters and producers, and Finca Licho is a shining example of that ethos. We first bought from this farm way back in 2007 when it was awarded 4th place in the Cup of Excellence. Fast forward fourteen years (gosh, feeling old now), and Licho has become a firm favourite – both with customers and our little Hasbean team. The arrival of coffees from Finca Licho is greatly anticipated every year.

The family are big football fans and after their first success at Cup of Excellence, they used some of the prize money to built a football pitch just below their micromill as part of the construction project - during harvest season it's used for their raised beds but for the rest of the year it's a specialty coffee loving football fan's dream pitch! This love of football has culminated in one of the new generation of Aguileras, Brandon, becoming a professional footballer - he's just signed for Nottingham Forest!

This coffee has us thinking of an old school chocolate trifle. Milk chocolate sprinkled with a good portion of almonds and sticky glacé cherries, plus a slosh of your favourite nightcap. A rich and heavy treat that lingers with a smooth finish.
