This week we are visiting El Salvador!
On the slopes of Laguna de Las Ninfas, we find Finca Nejapa, Gloria Mercedes Rodrigues Fontan's farm. She inherited the plot from her father, Jose Maria Rodrigues Herrera. The farm is separated into 3 plots; Santa Marta, Roma and Los Vientos. This coffee comes from the plot Roma.
With ideal soil conditions and a strong understanding of what it takes to produce speciality coffee, Gloria leads a team of 35 workers responsible for picking and processing the lots. She pays 90% above minimum wage to incentivise the workers to pick the ripest cherries and ensure maximum quality. She supervises the whole process directly with the support of Antonio Avelino, her farm foreman. We strongly support Gloria’s work ethic and are proud to be showcasing one of her lots!
