Formerly known as Blake which was named after Hasbean founder Steve's first school as a nod to old-school espresso blends, Hodson Blend was developed in recognition of the early days of Ozone Coffee so both share common roots in celebrating the origins of business.
Jamie and Karen Hodson, the original founders of Ozone, began their coffee-roasting journey in the small surf town of New Plymouth, New Zealand. Their inspiration struck during a visit to San Salvador while on a six-week trip through Central America, exploring coffee farms and meeting producers, they were caught in a tropical lightning storm one evening. Jamie was captivated by the scent of ozone in the air, and that night, he decided to venture into the coffee industry once he returned home to New Zealand. They founded the business on family values and were committed to growing meaningful relationships at coffee origins. This blend celebrates that original vision and our sourcing partners at origin.

Recommended Brew Recipe
Dose: 17.5g
Yield: 36g
Time: 30-35 secs
(we recommend this as a starting point that we enjoy, tweak to personal taste)Roast Information
Medium-dark: go nice and steady through the crack to develop the sweetness. Drop it right at the end of the gap with maybe a pop or two of second crack just as the coffee hits the cooling tray.Resting Recommendation
We recommend a minimum 7-day rest after the date of roasting before brewing this coffee as espresso, but there's a lot of personal preference in that. So, by all means, please brew whenever you like! -
