Geisha Coffee Beans
Geisha - also often spelled Gesha - originates from the Gori Gesha forest in southwest Ethiopia, where it was first documented in the 1930s before being transplanted to Central America. The variety gained wider attention after Panama producers entered it into the Best of Panama competition in 2004, where it outscored everything else in the auction and set a new benchmark for what a coffee could taste like. The cup profile is distinctive: pronounced jasmine and bergamot florals, tropical fruit brightness, and a clarity that reads more like tea than coffee. Processing has a strong influence on how that profile expresses - washed Geisha tends to emphasise the floral and delicate fruit notes; natural and anaerobic lots push toward stone fruit and sweetness. Low yields and demanding cultivation requirements mean genuine Geisha commands a significant price premium at origin. We source it selectively - only when the quality justifies it.
