Half Caff
Brazil, El Salvador
-
This sweet and gentle cup has milk chocolate and brown sugar sweetness over a delicate biscuit edge for a balanced and moreish blend.
All the flavour, half the caffeine. Half Caff is a 50/50 mix of a decaf coffee and a regular one, so you can have a full cup without the full hit.
The decaf half is Matas de Minas from Brazil, decaffeinated using the sugar cane method. To extract caffeine from coffee you need a solvent, something it will stick to to remove from the coffee. Ethyl Acetate is a solvent that's naturally found in many foods - for this decaffeination process sugar cane is the source used.
Coffee is seasonal, so the components in this blend shift through the year as fresh harvests arrive. Want to know why? Read The Coffee Arrival Calendar. The bag in your hands is always fresh, in-season coffee.

Medium-dark. We go through first crack, slow things down, and take it steadily up to the edge of second crack. It's easy drinking, with the sweetness up front.
