  • The Comandante C60 Baracuda in Nautilus Blue represents five years of German engineering excellence, delivering what many consider to be the pinnacle of manual coffee grinding. This robust, high-performance hand grinder features the biggest and most advanced burr set design Comandante has ever released, housed within a striking deep blue powder-coated body that's as visually arresting as it is functional. For those who demand absolute precision in their daily brew, the C60 Baracuda offers an uncompromising approach to particle size distribution, making it suitable for everything from delicate pour-overs to punchy espresso.

The Baracuda's 60mm conical burrs are made from high-nitrogen martensitic stainless steel, a super durable and hard-wearing material built to last for generations. The unibody construction, milled and crafted out of a single block of steel, delivers absolute stability and maximum drivetrain efficiency. This manufacturing approach, typically reserved for high-performance motor components, ensures that every rotation of the crank translates directly into consistent, uniform grinding. In practical terms, you can expect to grind 30 grams of coffee in under 42 seconds, making it two to three times faster than the beloved C40 whilst maintaining the same compact footprint.

The GX50 Gold Clix grinding system offers exceptional precision with a vertical burr pitch of 41.6μm per click, resulting in a target particle size change of around 21μm per click setting. This level of control allows you to dial in your grind with remarkable accuracy, whether you're brewing Turkish coffee at the finest settings or cold brew at the coarsest. The Nautilus Blue model features a super robust powder coating finish on its solid stainless steel body, paired with the signature Big Joe oak knob, handcrafted in Germany's Black Forest. It's a grinder that performs as beautifully as it looks.

  • What makes the C60 Baracuda different from the Comandante C40?

Unlike Comandante's C40 hand grinders, the C60 boasts 60mm burrs, providing a larger grinding surface for a uniform and rapid grinding experience. The C60 features a unibody stainless steel construction rather than the C40's composite body, and the fully assembled Baracuda achieves a total weight of one kilogram while maintaining the same dimensions as the classic Comandante.

What brewing methods is the C60 Baracuda suitable for?

The C60 Baracuda is a true all-rounder. The optimised burr geometry achieves a world-class particle size distribution suitable for a wide range of brew methods, from filter coffee to espresso and cezve/ibrik. The extended grind range also makes it excellent for French press and cold brew at coarser settings.

How do I adjust the grind setting on the C60 Baracuda?

To find the zero-point, turn the dial finer until the crank can't move freely any longer; from there, you can count the clicks going coarser. As a starting guide: ibrik is around 5 clicks, espresso around 12 clicks, moka pot around 24 clicks, V60 around 35 clicks, Chemex around 40 clicks, French press around 45 clicks, and cold brew around 51 clicks.

What is the GX50 Gold Clix system?

The GX50 Gold Clix system has an adjustment of 41.6 micrometres per click, making it much more precise than the C40. The brass adjustment knob locks your preferred grind setting into place, preventing accidental adjustments during grinding and helping you achieve repeatable results.

How fast does the C60 Baracuda grind coffee?

Expect decades of unwavering and world-class grind performance at incredible speed: well over a gram per second at filter coffee grind settings. In testing, 30 grams of coffee was ground in less than 42 seconds with the C60, compared to 74 seconds with the C40.

What is included in the box?

The C60 Baracuda Nautilus Blue comes with: 1 x Black Crank (XL), 2 x Polymer Bean Jars, 1 x Lid for Polymer Bean Jar, and 1 x Merino wool felt mat.

How do I clean the C60 Baracuda?

The easiest way to clean your C60 Baracuda is to disassemble your grinder and brush all parts clear of coffee dust. You can also blow coffee dust out of hard-to-reach areas using compressed air, a camera lens blower or good old lung-power. The collecting containers are dishwasher safe, whilst the mill and grinder should be cleaned with a brush and cloth.

Is the C60 Baracuda heavier than the C40?

Yes. The C60 Baracuda weighs approximately 1,018g, which is roughly double the weight of the C40 due to its solid stainless steel unibody construction. This added heft provides excellent stability during grinding.

What materials are used in the C60 Baracuda?

Materials include high-nitrogen martensitic stainless steel, Eastman Tritan Copolyester, glass, and sustainably sourced wood. Comandante products do not contain aluminium, and all materials in contact with coffee are certified food-safe.

Where is the Comandante C60 Baracuda manufactured?

The C60 Baracuda is 100% Made in Germany. The oak handles are produced in Germany's Black Forest, and Comandante is committed to using local raw materials and sustainable practices wherever possible.
