Welcome back to Colombia!

This week we are visiting Mirtly Dalena Reinoso Gutierrez and her family at El Paraiso farm close to the town of Herrera, in the south of Tolima.

Mirty grew up on the farm and spent her childhood there learning about agriculture through her father, Luis Edier Reinoso, a seasoned producer of the area. Thanks to him, she became passionate about coffee, alongside the importance of family. In 2019, Luis gave Mirtly a piece of land to grow her own coffee trees. She has been working hard, following her father's footsteps and always with his advice. Mirtly feels proud of her production and the quality of the coffee and being part of the generational shift of her parents, who strive each day to be better.

The coffee process starts with carefully picking the ripest cherries. These are pulped the same day without water and then placed in plastic containers tightly sealed. Here the coffee beans are fermented without water for 20 to 30 hours. Afterwards, they take them to the drying beds covered by a plastic roof with openings on the sides to secure airflow and maintain the temperature. Drying takes approx. 20 days. After, the coffee is stored in GrainPro bags to stabilize for a week and then taken to the warehouse in Herrera.

Mirtly's dreams and goals are to continue improving the process and the quality. She wants to learn more about coffee and continue caring for the environment as her father does.

Enjoy a tropical vibrant, sweet and juicy cup!
