    The heart of the Whirly is its S2C-042-EI burr set, 5-axis CNC machined from SUS420 stainless steel and hardened to 58 HRC. In the cup, Timemore promises a balanced, rounded profile with lasting sweetness: syrupy, textured shots and filter brews with plenty of body.     The lidless swivel hopper twists up and clicks into place.     Yes. Timemore designed the S2C-042-EI burrs with espresso as the priority, and the 0.025mm adjustment steps give you enough resolution to dial in shot times properly. Timemore's suggested espresso range is 0.1 to 0.7 on the dial, and the grinder doses straight into a 58mm portafilter.

    Can I grind directly into my portafilter?

    Yes, as long as it's a 58mm portafilter, which is the standard size on commercial-style and many prosumer espresso machines. If your machine uses a smaller basket, such as 54mm, grind into the included catch cup and transfer from there.

    How many coffees will I get from one charge?

    Timemore rates the 7.4Wh battery at up to 20 espresso doses of 20g, or 35 pour over doses of 15g, per charge. A full recharge over USB-C takes about three hours. Real-world figures will vary with grind size, roast level and bean density.

    How long does the Whirly 01S take to grind a dose?

    Timemore quotes around 90 seconds for an 18g espresso dose and around 30 seconds for a 15g pour over dose, based on testing with pre-production units. Finer settings ask more of the burrs, so espresso will always be the slowest job it does.

    What grind setting should I use for pour over?
