Kalita is a Japanese coffee equipment manufacturer founded in 1958, known above all for the Kalita Wave: a flat-bottomed dripper with three small holes and a distinctive ridged paper filter that together produce a more even, forgiving extraction than cone-shaped alternatives. The flat base means the coffee bed is uniform in depth rather than funnelled to a point, which reduces the impact of uneven pouring technique on the final cup. The result is a clean, balanced brew that is consistently reproducible, making the Wave a popular choice for both home brewers and café settings.
