  • The Subminimal FlowTip Handleless Milk Jug takes the patented FlowTip spout and pairs it with a cleaner, more minimal shape. Instead of a handle, you hold the jug through a snug silicone sleeve, which puts your fingers right on the body of the jug. Many baristas find that closer grip gives them finer control over the small wrist movements that latte art depends on, from the wiggle of a rosetta to the push of a stacked tulip. Subminimal sums up the sleeve neatly: it looks hot, but feels surprisingly not.

The spout is where the FlowTip earns its name. A smooth neck leads into a refined, sharp tip, so milk leaves the jug in a steady, predictable stream that's easy to control for both your base pour and the finishing details. The jug holds 450ml in total, but Subminimal recommends around 180ml of milk as the ideal steaming volume. That's enough for a single milk drink, with plenty of headroom for the milk to stretch and roll whether you're using a steam wand or a handheld frother.

It comes in matte black or matte white, measures a compact 110 x 82 x 82mm and weighs about 240g. The whole jug is dishwasher safe, and every FlowTip includes access to Subminimal's Latte Art Masterclass. One thing to note: the handleless version is designed for steam wands and frothers, not the hob, because the silicone sleeve gets too hot over direct heat. If you heat milk on the hob, choose the FlowTip with a handle instead. Want to compare a few jugs before you choose? We also stock the Fellow Eddy Steaming Pitcher, the competition-built Barista Hustle Pitcher 2.0 and the non-stick Rhino Stealth Black Milk Pitcher.

  • Why choose a handleless milk jug?

Without a handle, your fingers sit right on the body of the jug, which many baristas find gives them more direct control over tilt and movement while pouring. It's a matter of feel rather than right or wrong, but if you find handled jugs a little clumsy for detailed work, handleless is well worth trying.

Will the jug be too hot to hold?

No. The silicone sleeve insulates your hand from the heat of the steamed milk, so the jug stays comfortable to hold while you pour.

How much milk should I use?

Subminimal recommends around 180ml of milk from a total capacity of 450ml. That leaves enough room for the milk to expand and roll as you texture it, which is key to getting glossy, pourable microfoam.

Can I use the handleless FlowTip on the hob?

No. Subminimal doesn't recommend the handleless version for stovetop use because the silicone sleeve gets too hot. It's designed for use with an espresso machine steam wand or a handheld frother. If you heat milk on the hob, the FlowTip with a handle is safe on gas and electric hobs.

What's the difference between the handleless and handled FlowTip?

Both share the same 450ml capacity and patented FlowTip spout, so pouring performance is the same. The handleless version uses a silicone sleeve for grip and is slightly lighter and more compact. The handled version has a heat-resistant phenolic resin handle and can go on the hob.

Is the FlowTip Handleless dishwasher safe?

Yes, the whole jug is dishwasher safe. It's metal, so it must never go in the microwave. For a fully clean milk setup, keep your steam wand clear inside with our Pallo Steamy Wanda.

Should I choose black or white?

It's purely about the look. Both finishes share the same jug, spout and sleeve, so they pour identically. Matte black suits darker machines and setups, while matte white gives a clean, bright contrast against espresso.

How does the FlowTip compare to the Fellow Eddy?

Both are built for precise latte art, but they feel different in the hand. The FlowTip Handleless is a single 450ml jug held by a silicone sleeve, with a patented spout designed for a smooth, steady flow. The Fellow Eddy has a ribbon handle, a creased, fluted spout for fine detail and a tapered body, and comes in 12oz and 18oz sizes in polished steel or graphite. If you prefer a handle or want a choice of sizes, Eddy is a great alternative.

How does the FlowTip compare to the Barista Hustle Pitcher 2.0 and Rhino Stealth?

The Barista Hustle Pitcher 2.0 is a classic-shaped jug built to a competition standard, with guaranteed spout and handle alignment, a laser-welded handle and markings in millilitres, in 400ml and 600ml sizes. The Rhino Stealth is a heavy, 1mm-thick café workhorse with a non-stick coating that rinses clean after steaming, in 360ml and 600ml sizes. The FlowTip stands apart with its patented spout and handleless grip, and unlike those two, it's dishwasher safe.
